“God’s work. Our hands.” Sunday is Sunday, September 12, 2021. This day is an opportunity to celebrate who we are as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America – one church, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor.
Service activities offer an opportunity for us to explore one of our most basic convictions as Lutherans: that all of life in Jesus Christ – every act of service, in every daily calling, in every corner of life – flows freely from a living, daring confidence in God’s grace.
Kick off GWOH Sunday with Worship in the Park:
We’ll gather at “Shelter House #1” at Mission Viejo Park down the road from us for worship and a BBQ lunch to share prior to heading out for our work sites. Mark your calendar for this wonderful day of work in God’ world!!!
If you would like to be part of a team or lead a project contact Alan Schmuck at 217-316-9696 or email at the link below
Alan Schmuck is gathering a team to coordinate and organize our ELCA-wide day of service: God’s Work, Our Hands. Contact Alan at 217-316-9696 to suggest a work project or be in charge of one.
We need someone to take the lead in organizing a work crew to perform some clean up tasks in support of the Mission Viejo HOA. The task would be to schedule work on weeding and trash pickup in the area just across from the church on the South East corner of the shopping center area as well as the rock landscaped area from the block wall to the sidewalk along Chambers from Quincy heading north. Please contact Alan Schmuck at 217-316-9696 if interested in helping or leading.
Lawrence Street Community Center - Dinner Meal Prep on 09/12/2021 from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm. We are registered for a group size of 8. Rich Newman will be the leader on this event. We need 7 more volunteers to join Rich on this service project. Please contact either Alan Schmuck at 217-316-9696 or Rich Newman at 720-219-6347
Laura Flynn is leading an effort to create Blessing Bags for our community. This is planned for after our worship in the park service on Sunday the 12th. Connect with Laura for more information at firstname.lastname@example.org
